I love Google Trends as it’s a real-time snapshot of the outside world. From sports and entertainment to science and politics, it’s all there. Recently, Google rolled out a new way to illustrate trending searches in real time. It’s a great way to see the top searches on Google. Here it is in action:
What can we do with it?
The only thing missing is embed or sharing functionality, as I could see site owners and organizations using it to showcase patterns and latest trends on their site. This is especially true for news agencies and syndicates as well as select industries, such as entertainment and sports. Think about it – your favorite football team could be streaming trends from other fans. Of course, it would have to have additional filtering.
